PICTURE BOOK   Workshops & Performances

(Infant & Primary)

I have wide experience of working creatively with young children in schools and libraries in the UK and abroad, offering interactive talks and a range of writing workshops.

I’m happy to shape the visit to suit your needs. Interactive storytelling sessions and talks about writing can be to large groups.  Writing workshops tend to be for smaller groups.

Click on the picture book button at the top of this page to see the whole range and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you’d like more information or would like to book a visit. I'd be delighted to hear from you.

TESTIMONIALS

We were all so pleased with your visit and have had many students telling us how inspired they were by your talk, especially regarding their own writing. There is now a long waiting list to borrow ‘Girl on a Plane’, everyone wants to read it! You created a real buzz around books, reading (and writing!) which is exactly what we wanted.

Librarian, Priory Academy

May I say how much your talks and workshop were appreciated by our fellow Librarians, all North Herts participants and KTS Year 8 pupils and English staff – so many positives from the day, it’s difficult to know where to begin...   It was inspiring hearing about your work, and we really appreciated your encouraging words to our pupils, who were involved, absolutely engaged throughout the day, and it was a privilege to experience this.

Librarian, Knights Templar School

Interesting and thought-provoking. Our girls were full of questions and the staff that attended very much enjoyed your talk as well.

Librarian, Roedean School

Your presentation in the hall was fascinating, and the workshop in the library was pitched just right for the students.

Librarian, Chailey School

We absolutely loved having you with us for the day: it was a huge success! As you know, we are huge 'Girl on a Plane' fans and we will be recommending it and you. It worked really well having you for both the older and younger children. Do keep in touch as we would love to work with you again.

VIRTUAL AUTHOR VISITS Readings, Workshops, Q&A’s

(All Ages)

Screen Shot 2017-04-04 at 17.55.35.png

These are a great way for me to read one of my books and answer students' questions without involving travel and at a reduced fee.

What happens ?                                               On a Skype call,  I give a 5-10 minute reading (the whole of a picture book or an excerpt for older readers) and then answer questions. You can vary the format, but whatever you choose, direct interaction between author and readers makes for a really worthwhile experience.

For 3-11 year olds                                          Click on the Picture Books button at the top of this page and choose from the selection. Click on a character or the cover to find out more about a book.

For students 11-18                                              I read from Girl on a Plane and then answer questions from the students.

To Book                                                              Click on the Contact button at the top of this page and leave me:                                    *your name, school name, skype name         *location and country                                 *preferred date and UK time                       *age of students,  group size.

I offer one virtual visit each week of UK term time and am happy to visit any English-speaking school between 12:00am and 4:30pm United Kingdom time on a Wednesday.

Visits need to be booked and paid for at least a week in advance and schools are limited to one per year.

Minimum group size is 10 children.            There is no maximum group size.

Skype sessions may not be recorded without my prior permission.

I reserve the right to cancel a booking in case of illness or to accommodate work commitments, but will give notice at the earliest opportunity and always offer another date.
